Home Visit Guidelines
Home visits are required for all adoptions. It is just one more way we try to ensure a good match with rescued shelties. We don't expect perfect homes, but we need to be sure the dogs will be safe and well cared for.
Sheltie Personality
In general, Shelties make great family pets. They can be very active and playful, and they can be just as happy sleeping at your feet when you are busy with other things.
Shaving a Sheltie
Often, people think a long haired dog should be shaved during warm weather. While on one level that may seem logical, but in reality, it is not wise to do so with a Sheltie. The Sheltie coat not only acts as protection against cold in the winter, it serves the same purpose in the summer, protecting the Sheltie from the heat.
