Hello, my name is Buttons. I am a 10-year-old light sable female Shetland Sheepdog in search of a forever home. Previously, I lived in a barn in New England with 36 other dogs under deplorable conditions. Thankfully, animal control officers intervened and persuaded our owner to surrender us. They recognized that many of us were Shelties and contacted the Long Island Shetland Sheepdog Rescue.
A thorough veterinary examination was necessary. It revealed severe dental issues, leading to a much-needed dental cleaning. I was behind on vaccinations, now updated. I have to lose a few pounds being over weight due to a poor diet.
I shadow my foster mom throughout the house and coexist peacefully with her two other Shelties. I’m lively and cherish comfort, having tested all the dog beds available. I’m quite house-trained, signaling when I need to go outside.
Television fascinates me, particularly weather forecasts. I’m adaptable and would thrive in any home. Although not fully leash-trained, I’m intelligent and eager to learn. Regarding my weight, I’m at 30 pounds but should be closer to 20, so a strict diet and exercise regimen are crucial for my health.
I eagerly anticipate the day I settle into my permanent home.
